  • Salary relative to experience, ranging from $116,211.00 to $128,061.00 + super

Our NSW Planning Data and Analytics team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Data Scientist to deliver data and advanced analytics projects, while working closely with programmers and data analysts to deliver quality data analytics insights and products. In this role, you will undertake complex data analytics and interpret the results of your analysis, to provide advice and insights to inform decision making and policy, as well as identify trends, patterns and clusters within data sets.


About You

In this role, you will collaborate with technical experts to develop and implement technological solutions to extracting and analysing large and diverse data sets. You will work collegially with other branches across the department, to understand the business needs of the end clients with regard to data insight and build visualisations that effectively deliver this insight.


This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with the Manager Data and Analytics and other Analysts to analyse large datasets of both structured and unstructured data, to discover trends and patterns, develop expert end-to-end, data driven and AI solutions, identify opportunities for innovation through analytics and deploying modelling solutions. You need to have experience in SQL language skills, building ML predictive models and coding in Python/R.


You will also work with division staff to work in a cross-functional capacity to understand key business problems, propose solutions, create user and training documentation for deployed solutions and mentor, educate and inspire others within the team on the value of data science methods and best practice.


Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Data Science or relevant field or equivalent experience.
